 Why is it important to read current affairs?    

Current Affairs refer to the events of national and international importance relevant from competitive exams perspective like Civil Services Exam, Bank exam, etc. With the change in the pattern of examinations, questions related to current events and news have assumed a major role in deciding the fate of students

1) The closing ceremony of the joint military exercise between the Indian and U.S. Army, ‘Exercise Yudh Abhyas-20’ was held at Mahajan Field Firing Range.
👉This was the 16th edition of the joint exercise and it began on February 8. The aim of the exercise was to focus on counter terrorism operations under the mandate of the United Nations.
👉The India-US joint military exercise "Yudh Abhyas 20" commenced in Mahajan Field Firing Range of Bikaner district in Rajasthan.

2) Former union minister Vijay Sampla took over as Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC).

3) ICICI Lombard  launched what it claims to be the first corporate risk index to help businesses navigate the post-pandemic world by addressing a myriad of issues across the operation, supply-chains, cyber threats, falling revenue, hybrid working, among others.

4) Thirty-five books for children and young adults across fiction, non-fiction and poetry genres by authors like Vinod Kumar Shukl, Jerry Pinto, Nandini Nayar and Nandita Da Cunha in English and Hindi feature in the Parag Honour List 2021.
👉Currently in its second edition, this annual list by the Parag Initiative of Tata Trusts features best of children's books published in the past one year.
👉The list was launched Saturday by actor Soha Ali Khan.

5) China will become the second country in the world to land successfully on the Red Planet after the United States, which has done it eight times.

6) A team of scientists, nature lovers and doctors have come up with a mobile application 'Snakepedia' on snakes in Kerala to help the public as well as doctors to treat snake bites.

7) Bansi Kaul, a noted Indian theatre director and the founder of Rang Vidushak, a theatre group in Bhopal, has passed away. He was 71. Kaul was honored with the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honor, in 2014, and was also a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1995, among other awards.

8) India’s first dolphin research centre to come up in Patna University this October.
👉Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would lay the foundation stone of the National Dolphin Research Centre (NDRC) on October 5 on the bank of river Ganga in the premises of Patna University.

9) Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari  launched India's first CNG tractor and said that it can help the farmers save over Rs 1 lakh annually on fuel costs.

12) The world's largest cricket stadium at Motera in Ahmedabad was renamed the Narendra Modi Stadium and inaugurated by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah; his son Jay Shah, who is Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary.

13) Central government launched National Urban Digital Mission' to create a digital infrastructure for cities in the country.
The move will institutionalise a citizen-centric and ecosystem-driven approach to urban governance and service delivery in cities by 2022, and across all cities and towns by 2024.

14) Puducherry launched a campaign to become Covid-free by February 28. A campaign has been launched to ensure there were no COVID-19 cases by this month end in the union territory, where the daily count has fallen to single digits.
👉Under the "Zero Covid by Feb28" campaign, all those who had come into contact with people infected with coronavirus would be identified and provided treatment, so that the further spread of the pathogen could be prevented.
👉Pondicherry (or Puducherry), a French colonial settlement in India until 1954, is now a Union Territory town bounded by the southeastern Tamil Nadu state.

21) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Abhyudaya scheme.
